So I'm planning this big fundraiser for our Young Women to raise money for Girl's Camp. The fundraiser is this weekend. I started planning it last weekend (because that's when we found out we needed a fundraiser). We're doing a baked goods auction and in between auction items our Young Women will be performing camp song and other silly little ditties. The idea with the songs and silly ditties is to keep the energy up. To bring the fun spirit of camp into that room so that people will be generous.
I've run out of ideas for the "silly little ditties" so that's where I thought you might be able to help. I'll tell you a few of what I've got so far, so that you get the idea.
We will, we will, CAMP OUT....CAMP OUT!
You will, you will, BUY CAKE... BUY CAKE!
Roses are red, violets are blue
We love camp,
So buy a pie or two!
Any commonly known song or poem would work. So whatcha got for me, you clever people, you?

The only camp song I remember involves geoducks. (You know, the clam? Yes, that's how you spell it--I checked.)
Don't know how that would play in VA.
Geoducks? Did I mention I only went to camp in Washington one year? I would not have been able to name that as a type of clam for my life. ...So, no, I don't think that would fly.
But come on, neither of my examples are camp songs really.
Was it Marie Antoinette who said, when told the peasants were out of bread, "Let them eat cake"? You could do something with that.
Or how about picking up on some commercials: Nobody doesn't like Sara Lee, O-O-reos, Umm, Umm good, that's what Campbell's soup is...,potato chips saying, "you can't eat just one". Yo get the idea. Commercials are a wealth of comedy.
My MIL wrote me an email in response to this post and said "Some that don’t require explanation are “Who stole the coolies from the cookie jar” if you know that one already.
Another camp song is “The other day I saw bear” (use instead food items). There is “kumbya”, Do you know “ Hey, Hey, Hey, play mate come out and play with me and bring your dollies three”? (I can’t remember the rest
But it could be hey, hey, hey people come out and buy our wares, and bring your dollars rare and etc. etc.
Well that is about it from my brain except to suggest nursery rhymes as well.
Love from your MIL as ever!"
Thanks, MIL! I'm having great luck with nursery rhymes. For example,to the tune of Row, row, row your boat:
Buy, buy, buy a cake
We really love to camp
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Except when we get damp
And it all worked out BEAUTIFULLY!
