The Camping Excursion (photos)

Sorry these were so long coming. I've been busy blurb-ing my blog into a book. It's gonna take a few days, but it'll be so worth it.

Poor Isaiah spent much of his camping experience strapped into this chair so he wouldn't eat dirt.
Asher was in heaven with so many rocks. He spent most of his time collecting them into piles or lines like this. When he wasn't collecting them, he was tripping over them.

Aunt Kelly was a good sport about helping with the kids. Here she is playing Princesses with Naomi.
A dip in the river.

And here's where it all went downhill. We piled into our tent to wait out the rain. But in the game of "waiting" - the rain won.

Good thing we had some food with us in the tent.
Or was it?
Here's Naomi crowded into one corner of the tent coloring.

There are no pictures after it started to rain because I didn't dare take out the camera again. And beside that - not much happened. I guess I did wish I had the camera when a huge turtle was sitting in the middle of the road as we drove around. I got out of the car to move it off the road and it shot out of there so fast it was practically a blur. Whoever decided turtles were slow may have never met one in person.

that's way too cool.

The kids look happy, and oblivious to any adult worries

I'm getting ready for camp and am all put-out about the extra planning involved. It's so funny, it takes 3 weeks of preparation for 3 days of fun. Ditto with iPod's. Michael will spend 3 hours sinking it for 1 hour of listening time :)
Way to be a trooper and see the bright side of it all!

Looks like that time in the tent could get old--kids and their crumbs! You and your kids are very cute.

I was wondering how you went camping in the dust with a crawling dust eater!

We always had plenty of board games for when the rain started. And it always started.

Looks like fun was had by all. I'm sorry I missed it! I fear we will be leaving the East before I get to see all the Virginians again. We won't be able to make the reunion either. It all makes me sad...
