Anybody out there got any tips for me on how to help my 1 1/2 year old to stop hating the gym so much? ARGH. Four times in a row now the poor child-care people have had to page me mid-workout to come get my children because Isaiah won't stop screaming. ARGH! All I want is a full cardio workout, weight lifting, cool down and stretching! Is that too much to ask? Well, apparently, yes. I haven't made it longer than 30 minutes in way too long. At least this time I was prepared and worked my butt of in that time. I made it 2 miles before they paged me.
But seriously... what do I do? I've tried staying to play with him for a little bit first. I've tried talking to the care providers about how to help him. I've tried with and without a pacifier. I guess all that's left is doing all that stuff some more. But it's getting so frustrating. My workout is supposed to be an all-about-me time. Knowing that I may be interrupted at any moment by a humiliating page for "Mrs. Worth to come to the Kid's Club" is totally killing the buzz that I get from working out. Argh.

drug him? (just kidding!)
What a bummer! Does he do this at the nursery? Do you ask Naomi to stay with him? Does he never stop crying for that whole 30 minutes? I hate it when the childcare people come get me!
I mean the nursery at church.
You know, I ran into that too. But mine all played together. It was worse when they would get me at the pool to change a flippin' diaper. That was REALLY annoying.
Staying with him might help, but remember EVERY child has phases like this. Seth is fine right now at the gym and nursery, but will probably freak out in a couple months when ego development kicks in. Give it some time. Stick with it Nancy, and see ya tonight!
maybe special treats when he goes that the child care folks can give him? marshmallows? maybe bring his favorite book? maybe stay with him for the entire time but only leave for the last 5 minutes then increase the time your gone each time? who knows. I bet it's a just a phase though. good luck and way to run!
My children (now 2 and 4) have been that way for a year! It is finally the past couple of weeks that we are ok! It took soooo long, but stick it out..it will happen=) We finally get the full work-out in now!!!
